Chowaha
Chowaha, Eight-Handed, Comparative Hand Rankings
In honor of the upcoming Chowaha World Championship, and for those of you with the steely nerves and deep-pocketed stake horses for such ventures, here is an attempt to rank the 169 Chowaha hands.
This is a ProPokerTools style analysis developed from a survival sim.
PPT sims described here: http://pokercoder.blogspot.com/2006/07/towards-meaningful-ordering-of-hands.html
Derived from this paper: http://webdocs.cs.ualberta.ca/~darse/Papers/AIJ02.pdf
Sims are for eight-handed casino-style Chowaha: High only; must play both of two cards.
Chowaha boards explained here: http://www.wolfspokerpage.com/chowaha/
Following is the rank of the hand, the hand, the Relative Net Win Potential (sort of like EV, put here for comparative purposes), running % total of all 2-card Chowaha hands, median hand made by hand, median winning hand made by hand.
So, if we look at number 53, we see that it is 96 suited, has the last positive win potential of .00354. It is in the top 19.2% of Chowaha hands. The median hand it makes is two pair--AA669. The median hand in wins with is a ten-high straight.
For those of you unfamiliar with my posts, it should be pointed out that I know nothing of math, nothing of statistics, nothing of logic of any type, nothing of computer programming, and, especially, nothing of poker.
Enjoy! Happy New Year!
