We Are X
We Are X
L.A. druggie trying to score: "Do you have X?"(Ecstasy)
Band, confusedly: "We are X!"
Documentary about Japanese psycho-metal band X Japan.
Since it's a Japanese psycho-metal band:
Pain: check.
Death: check.
Suicide: check.
(Free Bonus) Cultic brainwashing: check.
During their heyday (80s-90s), I was only vaguely aware of this band, but knew that they had some world class musicians and weird hair.
Flick's narrative is loosely hung on an appearance at Madison Square Garden during a recent comeback tour, but there are numerous snippets of them playing in their prime, including a scene at the Budokan over the opening credits.
Film was easily ten times better than I expected it to be, but I like rock documentaries and have no problem letting myself be easily manipulated by them.
Check it out.
